Our goal is to provide our clients with the best and most beautiful hand made rugs and carpets at honest prices.
We do this by carefully selecting each rug for our inventory from weavers who offer only fine quality rugs at fair market value and who have goods that are unique and in vogue. In some cases these rugs are from artisans whose production is very limited.
In addition to one-of-a-kind rugs we carry a number of "program" lines which feature decorative rugs in variety of sizes at affordable prices.
The wool and nylon carpet that we carry is from domestic and foreign mills. Our carpet program offers traditional, modern and transitional styles and textures at a variety of prices.
We truly want to help our customers find the rug or carpet they will love for many years.
History
The Nahigian story begins with Hovsep C. Nahigian opening his first store in the Chicago loop in 1910. Grandfather Nahigian was known throughout the midwest as one of the foremost connoisseurs of Oriental rugs. His first store featured both new and antique fine Persian rugs. His sons, Dee and Jack, both graduates of Northwestern University, joined their father in business in the 1930's. The H. C. Nahigian Company moved to West Chicago Avenue in Chicago and was incorporated in 1934 as H. C. Nahigian and Sons, Inc.
During the next thirty years, the company grew to become a well respected oriental rug and carpet retailer. In addition, H. C. Nahigian & Sons became very well known in the Chicagoland area for their rug and carpet cleaning as well as rug restoration services. Then in 1960s Hovsep Nahigian's grandsons, Dee Nahigian Jr. and Jack Nahigian Jr., joined their fathers in the business. In 1964, the company moved to its present location on Golf Road in Skokie where today Dee Jr. and Jack Jr. own and operate H. C. Nahigian and Sons.
